What is DELTA?

DELTA, the Diploma in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, is Cambridge English’s advanced qualification for experienced English language teachers. It is internationally recognised and designed for teachers who want to deepen their professional knowledge, classroom expertise and reflective teaching practice.

CELTA helps teachers enter the profession. DELTA helps experienced teachers progress further into senior teaching, teacher training, academic management, materials writing or curriculum development roles.

How DELTA Is Structured

Module One​

Understanding Language, Methodology and Resources

Module One is the theory-based part of DELTA. It focuses on language systems, teaching methodology, assessment and professional knowledge, and is assessed through a written Cambridge examination.

DELTA MODULE

Module Two

Developing Professional Practice

Module Two is the practice-based part of DELTA. It focuses on advanced classroom teaching, lesson planning, assessed teaching practice and reflective professional development through a Cambridge-moderated teaching portfolio.

Module Two develops your ability to plan, teach, evaluate and improve lessons with real learners. It connects classroom practice with ELT theory and helps you make more informed teaching decisions.
